I joined Shinichi Nakagawa’s group in October 2017 as a Research Associate. I will be working with Shinichi and Losia in a project on Mapping of Low Carbon Living-related systematic reviews. I will be engaged in analysis of systematic reviews and planning to work on automation of meta-analyses and systematic mapping using machine learning techniques, possibly including deep learning. |
Current Work
I am currently involved in systematic collection and recording of systematic reviews and meta-analyses on Low Carbon Living. I will be systematically creating a collection of available materials and building a database for holding them. Once we will have an initial collection of materials of interest, I am planning to investigate the possibilities of analysing semantic relationships of keywords / phrases using text mining algorithms and potential pathways to automate meta-analysis and systematic mapping
Past Education/Work
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2011, and joined IFS R&D International as a Software Engineer. Then in 2013 I received a scholarship to pursue my PhD in Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW-Sydney, which brought me to Sydney. My PhD was on computer-aided recognition of prostate cancer with multi-modal magnetic resonance imaging. I submitted my thesis in mid-2017 and awaiting final outcomes. Since the submission of my thesis, I joined a pilot project on detection of house dust mites in microscopic images, as a research associate in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, UNSW-Sydney, and contributed towards successful completion of the pilot stage. I was involved in several other casual employments including: Visiting Research Fellow in the School of Informatics at the Technical University of Munich, Research Assistant in the School of Robotics and Autonomous Systems at UNSW-Sydney, Research Assistant in the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW-Sydney, Software Engineer / Consultant at Property Power Partners Pty Ltd, Sydney.
Other Interests
I like following new trends in Artificial Intelligence. Football (Soccer as you all know) and cricket are my favourite sports. I like reading, watching television shows and travelling. I recently began to think of losing (some) weight and that is the reason why I thought of removing ‘eating’ from my list of hobbies.
